Maternal neurocircuits

Our lab is interested in understanding the brain circuits and synaptic mechanisms involved in mouse maternal behavior. We are specifically focusing on uncovering the neural pathways relaying sensory cues from the offspring, and the functional consequences for hormonal release and maternal physiology.

We are studying this on a synaptic, circuit and behavior level combining multiple state-of-the-art approaches including in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, fiber photometry, mouse behavior, viral tracing approaches, opto- and chemogenetics, molecular and pharmacology tools and newly-developed neurotransmitter sensors.
